T0839 Access Electrical Network Infrastructure for the Individual of Workgroup (IWG) in QLD

Summary

Provides the knowledge and skills required to work on or near High Voltage lines and apparatus covered by an Access Permit, Test Permit or Non Access Work Notice under the direction of a Recipient.

The following courses have been superseded by T0839:

  • 4436 Individual of a Workgroup - Ergon
  • M581 Individual of a Workgroup - Energex (AIWG)

Training refresher: Every 3 years by completing course 4028.

Note: Current Ergon 'Safe Entry to HV Enclosure' Authorisation (training course 4431) can also be used as a pre-requisite for this course.

Skills Acquired

On successful completion of this module including all prerequisites and assessments you should have these skills:

  • Outline basic switching and access principles
  • Describe the role and associated responsibilities or an authorised Individual of a Workgroup and a Recipient.
  • Outline basic isolation and earthing principles.
  • Identify various types of high voltage electrical apparatus.
  • Outline requirements for establishing a safe work area as defined on Permits and Notices.
  • Demonstrate the process for inspecting operating and earthing equipment to ensure it's in a serviceable condition before use.
  • Demonstrate the process for signing on and off Permits and Notices.
  • Demonstrate the process to apply and remove working earths at the work area (Licensed Electrical Workers and Apprentices on an Electrical Training Plan only).
